Wotton Kearney adds injury experts

Law firm Wotton Kearney has recruited insurance partner Claire Gomo and special counsel Andrew Karasmanis to its Melbourne general liability team.

The pair join from Hunt & Hunt, bringing expertise across injury and liability law.

Wotton Kearney says Ms Gomo is one of Australia’s leading dust disease lawyers.

“Claire brings exceptional expertise across personal injury, workers’ compensation, public and product liability, occupiers’ liability, latent claims and complex occupational disease litigation.

“Her experience also extends to local government and infrastructure matters, as well as strategic advisory work covering risk management, coverage and policy analysis.”

Mr Karasmanis also specialises in personal injury litigation and works with insurers, employers and corporate clients on complex personal injury and liability matters. He is experienced in workers' compensation, dust disease, public liability and recovery claims, the firm says.

Melbourne general liability lead Andrew Seiter said: “Victoria remains one of the most challenging claims environments in Australia, with some of the highest claims costs in the country, with a significant increase in psychiatric and psychological injury claims.

“Claire and Andrew’s combined expertise further strengthens our market-leading practice and enhances our ability to help clients navigate these evolving risks.”
