Tributes have been paid after insurance professional Ian Edgell died suddenly aged 57.

Mr Edgell’s career spanned 15 years at IAG and seven at consultancy AT Kearney. In early 2023, he was appointed by The Bridge International to lead a new consulting practice.

“It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we share the recent passing of Ian Edgell,” The Bridge co-founder Stuart Blake said on LinkedIn.

“Ian was a trusted team member and friend to all of us. He brought warmth, dedication and genuine care to everything he did, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

“Our thoughts are with Ian’s family during this difficult time.”

Former Sedgwick COO Derek Roberts replied that Mr Edgell, from Sydney’s Freshwater, was “really was one of life’s good guys ... So sad and thoughts with the family.”

Former Suncorp EGM of compulsory third party Matt Pearson wrote: “Really sad to hear this, and shocked. Edge was a lovely man.”

Norm Casamento, who has held senior roles at Envest, QBE and IAG, said: “I had the privilege of working with Ian for many years at IAG. He was a fantastic person. My sincere condolences.”

Mr Edgell died on August 17. He is survived by his wife Lynda and children Dominic, Abby and Henry.

Friends and colleagues are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday at Magnolia Chapel, Macquarie Park Crematorium, North Ryde.
