NIBA names national charity partner

The National Insurance Brokers Association will launch a charity partnership with Ovarian Cancer Australia at this month’s annual convention.

The NIBA Gala Lunch Series supported local charities in each state, but now the association has united its national community behind a single cause.

“Through NIBA’s national network, the partnership will help expand awareness and fundraising through industry events, education sessions and community engagement initiatives,” the association said.

“Funds raised will support the charity’s free services for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and their families, including access to specialist ovarian cancer nurses through the Teal Support Program, counselling and support groups, as well as national advocacy and research aimed at improving treatment access and survival outcomes.”

NIBA CEO Richard Klipin says urgent help is needed.

“Our broking community extends into cities and regional communities right across Australia. With five women diagnosed every day, we want to use that reach to raise vital funds, start conversations and make a real difference,” he said.

Ovarian Cancer Australia CEO Debbie Shiell welcomed the partnership.

“Ovarian cancer is too often diagnosed too late, and every conversation about symptoms and support matters,” she said.

“The broking community’s national reach will help us raise awareness and fund the specialist nursing and support services that ensure no woman faces ovarian cancer alone, wherever she lives.”

The NIBA Convention takes place on the Gold Coast from October 18 to 20.
