Axa XL has made two appointments to its Australian marine team.

Ross Lawrenson joined last month as senior marine underwriter, based in Melbourne, and Sameen Naveed started in March as senior claims specialist in Sydney, according to their LinkedIn pages.

Mr Lawrenson was most recently QBE head of marine, a role he held for more than two years until January.

“Ross brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our marine proposition,” head of marine for Australia Tom Hughes said.  

“He will be pivotal in contributing to the execution of our growth strategy.”

Ms Naveed also joins from QBE, where she was senior marine claims specialist.

Specialty claims manager Rebecca Bowman says Ms Naveed’s 15 years’ experience in claims, including seven specialising in marine, will be “instrumental in enhancing our service delivery”.
