ASIC reveals conference program
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s Annual Forum next month will focus on “staying ahead of the next wave” of global change.
The corporate regulator says it will examine how Australia can safeguard financial system integrity and maintain confidence for consumers and markets in an environment of accelerating and varied change.
The event at International Convention Centre Sydney will bring together leaders from business, markets, government and the community on November 17-18.
“Economic pressures, geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological innovation are reshaping our financial system and our markets,” ASIC chair Sarah Court said.
“The challenge for all of us – government, business and regulators – is to address these factors in a way that is front-footed and forward-thinking.”
The forum will examine trust in professional services groups, operational resilience, industry codes, board leadership in a volatile environment and co-ordination between financial regulators. ASIC will also announce its enforcement priorities for next year.
Speakers include federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Reserve Bank governor Michele Bullock. Find out more here.
