AILA packs plenty into annual conference
The Australian Insurance Law Association will deliver “maximum value in minimum time” at its one-day national conference on October 16.
The event, themed Insurance Fast Forward, will start with a keynote address from Victorian Supreme Court judge Michael Osborne.
This is followed by a regulatory panel featuring representatives from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, and the Insurance Council of Australia.
AILA Victoria president and conference chair Lucy Terracall will host a panel with executives from Suncorp, IAG and Allianz discussing the “big legal issues that keep insurers awake at night”.
There will also be sessions on cyber and product recalls, the evolution of claims, talent attraction and retention, and the future of litigation funding. The winning presentation from this year’s Ron Shorter Award, recognising young professionals’ public speaking skills, will also take place.
“The AILA National Conference is the only opportunity in the year to be in the same room with the key decision-makers, legal advisers and representatives from the major insurers, insurance brokers, underwriters and other service providers who are engaged in the issues affecting our industry,” Ms Terracall said.
The event is at the W Hotel Melbourne from 8.15am. A gala dinner at the MCG will follow from 6.30pm.
