Peak bodies: industry leaders pedal 350km for fundraiser

Industry figures hit the road earlier this week for the Tour de Cure’s four-day Victoria Discovery Tour to raise funds for cancer research.

Cyclists undertook a 350km trek, beginning on the Great Ocean Road, passing through Geelong and finishing in Melbourne.

Among the participants was National Insurance Brokers Association CEO Richard Klipin, who was joined by association board members Mark Saunderson, Steven Hill and Brett Piggott.

The NIBA collective, riding under the CGU and WFI banner, raised $11,844. The CGU and WFI team was the top contributing group, raising more than $144,000.

Overall, the tour has generated $563,464 – passing its goal of $500,000 – with funds to be provided to groups including the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and cancer treatment and support services.

Donations to the tour and its riders can still be made. Find out more here.
