Association names community champion finalists

Three broking managers are in the running for this year’s community excellence member of the year award, presented by the National Insurance Brokers Association.

The program, sponsored by Liberty Specialty Markets, recognises acts of charity and community engagement by NIBA members, and “service beyond duty”.

The finalists are Steadfast IRS GM international John May, Aon Newcastle regional manager Julieanne James, and North Queensland Insurance Brokers area manager Kieran Volpe.

“Brokers are at the heart of helping communities recover and thrive. These outstanding finalists exemplify the values of care and service that are at the core of our profession, and I congratulate them on this recognition,” NIBA CEO Richard Klipin said.

Some of the finalists’ endeavours include championing Ronald McDonald House through advocacy and hands-on support, leading recovery efforts during floods in Ingham, and spending time with vulnerable children.

Liberty VP Peter O’Leary says the finalists have “shown exceptional commitment in giving back to their community”.

The winner will be announced at the NIBA Convention on the Gold Coast in October.
