Mitti targets new markets under old name
Sydney-based Mitti Insurance has promoted John Blake to global CEO as it makes its first move into the US.
Rebranding to its original name after operating as SafetyCulture Care since 2023 under an acquisition, the underwriting agency says its new US managing general agent is backed by Lloyd’s, Chubb and Greenlight Re.
It is licensed across 51 US jurisdictions, though its initial focus is on 10 Midwest states.
In Australia, where Mitti is backed by Allianz, it is adding commercial general liability and industrial special risk property insurance.
“What we’ve built in Australia is increasingly relevant in larger and more complex markets like the US that face the same challenge: too little real-time visibility and too much reliance on hindsight,” co-founder and MD for Australia Dan Cummins said.
“We’re excited to welcome back the Mitti name for our insurance business too, as we step into our next period of growth.”
Mitti says its operations system is used by more than 2 million workers across 80,000 organisations, and client Trippas White Group – a hospitality services company – has cut claims in some areas by 35%.
Mr Blake, who was previously SafetyCulture CFO and COO, says the past five years “have been about proving a simple hypothesis: policyholders using the Mitti platform have fewer claims and lower loss ratios. We’ve shown that, and we’re now taking Mitti Insurance global.”
