Ivory names new claims manager, tech chief

Lawyer Yen Tran has been appointed national claims manager at Ivory Insurance, as Michael Behm becomes claims counsel in a transition towards retirement.

Nathaniel Barrs has also joined as chief technology officer, replacing David Power, who has been at Brisbane-based Ivory since it secured a licence to operate as a general insurer at the end of 2023.

“We welcome Yen and Nat to the team and thank Michael and Dave for all their efforts in getting Ivory up and running,” the insurer said.

“Michael has done a fantastic job of setting up all aspects of Ivory’s claims model and Dave leaves Ivory’s IT environment in a really solid position.”

Ms Tran, a former Suncorp claims manager, has spent six years at Martello Law specialising in professional indemnity and public liability, and has also worked at Barry Nilsson, Norton Rose Fulbright and Sparke Helmore Lawyers.

“She brings extensive experience managing complex litigated claims across multiple jurisdictions,” Ivory said.

Mr Barrs previously held CTO roles at PSC and Hollard. Ivory says his “technical leadership, industry expertise and proven delivery make him an ideal fit”.
