Experienced broker goes solo in ‘win-win’ move

Linsure Insurance Brokers has launched in Brisbane, led by Linda Burnett, who has more than two decades’ experience in the industry.

The company will help clients with commercial property insurance, motor and marine, professional services, construction and trades, personal lines, and business and commercial cover.

“After more than 24 years in insurance broking, I’m excited to be building a business of my own, centred on what I value most: honest advice, genuine relationships and personal service,” said Ms Burnett, who is a mentor in the Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers emerging talent program.

“I’ve worked with businesses across a wide range of industries, helping them navigate insurance challenges, understand their risks and make informed decisions about their cover.

“I believe in building lasting relationships with my clients, understanding how their businesses operate and being someone they feel comfortable calling.”

Ms Burnett told insuranceNEWS.com.au she followed her father, an underwriter at Zurich, into the sector.

“He was very keen for me to enter the industry ... insurance is perfect for someone like me. There are so many different things you can do, there’s never a shortage of things to learn.

“I’m really fortunate he could introduce me to an industry that opens up all these amazing possibilities.”

She began at “small suburban brokerage” Allen & Rickard Insurance Brokers in Daisy Hill, which later came under the umbrella of Allsafe Insurance Brokers, which became part of Aviso Broking, and then PSC.

“I was with the same business the whole time, but it was a lot of different names and a very different company by the end.”

Ms Burnett has “done a little bit of everything over the years ... predominantly SME business and a little bit bigger, but lots of warehousing, commercial property, manufacturing, hospitality and retail”.

Now she plans to build the Linsure network and client base.

“I’ll see what people in my community need and step up to that. It’s really just to help people.

“Insurance can feel very complicated and really stressful, so I like to try and help people feel confident and take the stress out of it.

“It’s win-win to me going out on my own, being able to make a business that reflects the way that I – and I think most clients – would prefer to work: having one person you actually know and can get them on the phone. A more quality service, more a partnership.

“The small business feel is something I think most SMEs in particular prefer.”
