Coalition combats SME email breaches

Global cyber insurer Coalition has launched a security product designed to help SMEs tackle business email compromise before it causes financial and reputational damage.

Login Security – a new feature in the Coalition Control platform – continuously monitors suspicious login behaviours, containing confirmed threats and automatically removing attackers.

Coalition says business email compromise is a key driver of cyber insurance claims, rising by 15% last year.

“Small businesses are prime targets for business email compromise, yet most lack the budget for 24/7 staff,” Coalition Security GM Tim MalcolmVetter said. “Login Security not only watches for threats, but also stops them by automatically containing suspicious users.

“Continuous monitoring is a hallmark of active insurance, and to our knowledge, we are the first cyber insurance provider to offer an innovative solution like this to help policyholders prevent business email compromise.”

Coalition says less sophisticated defences often rely on manual detection, so by the time a business notices a suspicious login the attacker has already had a chance to redirect funds or manipulate data.

The tool includes 24/7 monitoring, identification of suspicious login activity, rapid termination of compromised login sessions, instant detection of malicious inbox rules that can forward sensitive data, and automated password reset prompts to secure accounts.

It integrates with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace directly.
