Canopius has made Michelle Rudd its Asia-Pacific COO, overseeing the global (re)insurer’s operational strategy and performance across the region.

She will join the Asia-Pacific executive committee and work closely with Canopius’ new Australia and New Zealand head Andrew Ziolkowski, who took the role on October 25. 

Ms Rudd joins from Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s Australia, where she was director and operations manager for more than 15 years. She has also worked at Arch’s London offices, Ace Europe and CGU.  

She will be based in Sydney, reporting to group COO Kate Roy and Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North Africa CEO Soon Keen Lee.  

“With her exceptional experience and strategic vision, she and Andrew will play key roles in driving Canopius’ growth momentum,” Ms Lee said.  

Canopius has also recruited former Arag Australia product and underwriting manager Vanessa Hall as a casualty underwriter.  

Ms Hall has more than 20 years’ underwriting experience, including roles at CGU, Miramar Underwriting, Lumley Insurance and Altiora Insurance.  

She will be based in Sydney, reporting to Australia and New Zealand casualty head Brodie English.
