Broking chiefs prepare for charity sleepout

Insurance broking bosses are participating in the 19th annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout fundraiser, held on one of the coldest nights to support Australians vulnerable to homelessness.

Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly and Insurance Advisernet MD Shaun Standfield are among industry leaders gearing up for this year’s event in June.

Mr Kelly, who will be taking part in his seventh sleepout, has so far raised $507,995 for the cause. He has previously said he saw his grandfather struggle with alcoholism and homelessness before gaining support from Vinnies at the Matthew Talbot Hostel in Sydney.

Everest Insurance International Head of Asia-Pacific Scott Leney and Chubb local President Peter Kelaher will also sleep out this year.

Last year’s event raised $8.9 million for Vinnies’ services across Australia, including access to food and accommodation, education, counselling, employment and health services. Almost 1500 executives participated in the sleepout.

More than 122,500 people are homeless in Australia. Click here for Mr Kelly’s donation page and here for Mr Standfield’s page.
