Amwins expands nat cat energy offering
Amwins Global Risks has expanded its natural catastrophe facility for renewable energy projects, increasing capacity to $US50 million ($71 million) per placement.
The UK-based international arm of US specialty distributor Amwins has also broadened its cover to all major natural disasters and made it available worldwide.
The facility provides excess catastrophe cover for renewable energy assets and transmission infrastructure against earthquake, flood, wildfire, windstorm and other natural perils.
“Renewable energy projects are becoming larger, more valuable and increasingly exposed to a broader range of natural catastrophe risks,” Amwins Global Risks director Harry Downes said.
He says the facility helps investors and developers bridge the gap between market limits and total project values.
“As property rates continue to soften, project owners are reinvesting premium savings into higher catastrophe limits, while lenders and investors continue to seek stronger protection for increasingly valuable infrastructure assets,” Mr Downes said.
