Reinsurance pool board members appointed
The federal government has reappointed Julie-Anne Schafer as Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation chair and announced Robert McLean will join the board.
Ms Schafer will continue as part-time chair until July 2030, while members Eilis Hurley, Fran Raymond and Greg Nucifora have also been reappointed for a further four years.
Evelyn Horton and Kent Griffin have been reappointed until July 2028, along with observer Guy Thorburn.
Mr McLean, who has more than 20 years’ experience in insurance and financial management, will join the board until mid-2028. The board roles are on a part-time basis.
“I welcome the reappointment of my fellow board members and the appointment of Robert McLean,” Ms Schafer said.
“Their combined experience across insurance, financial services, government and risk management will further strengthen the board’s capability and support ARPC’s purpose in providing public reinsurance to improve the accessibility and affordability of insurance for the Australian community for terrorism and cyclone risks.”
Mr McLean is GM of business and advisory services and innovation, and delivery and deputy insurance commissioner for the National Injury Insurance Agency Queensland and Motor Accident Insurance Commission Queensland.
Rod Whithear leaves the board after completing a three-year term.
