NSW confirms workers’ comp premiums

Employers in NSW will soon receive workers’ compensation renewal notices, after state insurer icare confirmed premium settings.

Earlier this year, the state government froze industry classification rates for 2026-27 and 2027-28.

Premiums for individual employers may still vary based on factors such as changes in wages, business activity, claims experience and eligibility for incentives.

The minimum premium payable will remain at $240, and premium increase capping for experience-rated employers will reduce from 30% to 25%.

Employers must now pay an excess at the start of a claim.
