Conaghan stays in Coalition financial services role
New federal opposition leader Angus Taylor has made Tim Wilson shadow treasurer and Pat Conaghan shadow minister for financial services and assistant treasurer.
Mr Conaghan, the Nationals MP for Cowper in NSW, told delegates at last year’s National Insurance Brokers Association that over-regulation is holding back the insurance industry.
NIBA says it looks forward to engaging with the Mr Taylor and his team.
“Mr Taylor has identified the cost of living and affordability as key priorities for the Coalition, issues that resonate strongly with the insurance broking profession and the communities we serve,” association CEO Richard Klipin said.
“We also welcome the retention of Mr Conaghan in the financial services portfolio.
“NIBA has established a constructive working relationship with Mr Conaghan and looks forward to continuing it under the new shadow ministry.”
