Bushfires royal commission conducts final hearings

The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements will hold its final hearings this week, with executives from IAG, Risk Frontiers and the CSIRO scheduled to appear.

The hearings follow consideration of responses to interim observations and draft propositions that have been published since late last month.

“The range of views on a number of the propositions will be further examined during the hearings,” the royal commission said today.

Witnesses listed to appear tomorrow include IAG Executive Manager Natural Perils Mark Leplastrier, Risk Frontiers MD Ryan Crompton and CSIRO Senior Climate Scientist Michael Grose.

At this stage, the commission does not intend to sit on Wednesday, but will hear oral addresses from counsel on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

The royal commission is due to deliver its final report by October 28.
