Builder wipes out convictions and fines

A builder who was fined more than $470,000 over allegations of unlicensed and uninsured residential building work has had an annulment application granted on the matters.

The NSW Building Commission took action against Anthony Abi-Merhi, a sole trader operating under the name Triscapes, in February, and the NSW government publicised the outcome in March.

But Mr Abi-Merhi successfully applied for annulments at a hearing in the Parramatta Local Court on May 23. The matters are set to be reheard and are listed for mention on July 11.
