Brumby offsider to head Cladding Safety Victoria

Dan O’Brien, once chief of staff to former Victorian premier John Brumby, has been appointed CEO of Cladding Safety Victoria (CSV) as the state undertakes a $600 million program of rectification works on hundreds of buildings.

Last month Victoria became the first state or territory to announce a cladding rectification plan for private high-rise buildings found to have high-risk cladding.

Mr O’Brien, who has held key executive roles at National Australia Bank and Medibank Private as well as senior government roles, will lead the agency in managing the funding and working with owners’ corporations to make sure buildings are compliant with all regulations.

Mr O’Brien reports to Victorian Building Authority Chief Commissioner Dr Owen Donald.
