ARPC appoints next underwriting chief
The Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation has named Cameron Hick as chief underwriting officer.
Mr Hick, who has started as chief underwriting officer designate, will work during a transition period with Michael Pennell, who will take leave from September 14 before retiring on November 27.
“Cameron brings deep technical expertise, almost 30 years of global reinsurance experience and a strong understanding of ARPC’s reinsurance pools,” CEO Christopher Wallace said on LinkedIn. “I also want to acknowledge Mike’s long-standing leadership and contribution to ARPC.”
Mr Hick joined the corporation as head of technical underwriting in 2024 after working for major reinsurers and brokers.
He was a senior treaty broker at Aon, Gallagher Re’s head of broking and Willis Re’s head of client, and spent 20 years at Munich Re, including in Germany.
He also worked at Partner Re in Switzerland.
The ARPC said in April that Mr Pennell would be retiring. He has been at the corporation more than two decades. He helped design and administer the terrorism pool and establish the cyclone pool.
