Senior executives meet bushfire victims

Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston has visited Harcourt in regional Victoria to meet families affected by the recent bushfires.

A first estimate from the Insurance Council of Australia put insured losses from the January catastrophe above $200 million from more than 3120 claims.

Insurance teams have also been in Castlemaine, Natimuk, Seymour, Skipton and Yea to support policyholders.

Mr Johnston, chair of ICA, was accompanied in Harcourt by Suncorp consumer insurance CEO Lisa Harrison.

“We are collaborating with all recovery agencies to ensure impacted families can re-establish their lives as quickly as possible, with Suncorp builders currently on the ground co-ordinating the removal of debris and preparing land for the rebuilding phase,” Mr Johnston said.

“We are prioritising claims for those impacted in these fires.”

Suncorp has received 300 claims related to the Longwood and Harcourt fires.

IAG had received 880 related claims by last Wednesday. Its WFI Insurance brand has donated $50,000 to the Victorian Farmers Federation for bushfire relief efforts.
