New chair for Natural Hazards Research
Barrister Dominique Hogan-Doran is the new chair of Natural Hazards Research Australia.
She replaces Iain MacKenzie, who was chair of the federal government-funded organisation from November 2022.
The collaborative research body works to address challenges posed by hazards such as bushfires, floods, cyclones, heatwaves and storms.
Ms Hogan-Doran served as senior counsel assisting the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements in 2020, and was a trustee director of industry fund Club Plus Super. As a barrister, she has acted for the Group of Eight universities in the Royal Commission into Anti-Semitism and Social Cohesion.
The organisation’s CEO, Andrew Gissing, plans to leave the position in September.
