MTAA forum invites smash repair code feedback
The Motor Trades Association of Australia will hold an online forum for industry members to provide input on its forthcoming insurance repairs code of conduct revamp.
The 90-minute session aims to ensure feedback is heard by the code administration committee, comprising the MTAA and the Insurance Council of Australia.
Association interim executive director Rod Camm says the forum is a “pivotal moment for our industry to have its voice heard in shaping the future regulatory landscape.
“The Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct directly impacts how collision repair businesses operate, and it’s essential that industry practitioners play an integral role in the review process.
“We’re calling on business owners, skilled tradespeople and all stakeholders within the collision repair sector to engage with this process. Your expertise and real-world experience are invaluable in creating a regulatory framework supporting industry viability and consumer protection.”
The committee’s public consultation on code changes is open until June 23.
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries is among groups that have made recommendations, calling for increased standardisation of some terminology and steps to tackle the use of counterfeit vehicle parts.
The MTAA forum is on Wednesday from 5.45pm AEST. Find details here.
