Insurers to visit fire-hit Victorians
The Insurance Council of Australia will hold consultation sessions for Victorians affected by bushfires earlier this year.
More than 4700 claims have been lodged after a spate of fires in January, which the council declared a catastrophe.
Swiss catastrophe data company Perils’ latest estimate puts the insured loss at more than $810 million.
The forums will feature representatives from several insurers helping customers with claims and providing avenues for dispute resolution.
“While insurers had a presence in impacted communities in the immediate aftermath of the fires, we acknowledge that the road to recovery is a long one and insurers remain committed to supporting impacted policyholders through that process,” ICA mitigation and extreme weather response director Liam Walter said.
“I encourage impacted policyholders to make an appointment to speak with their insurer.”
Session will be held at:
- Euroa Recovery Hub on May 26 from 9am-3pm
- Alexandra Shire Hall on May 27 from 10am-4pm
- Harcourt Leisure Centre on May 28 from 10am-4pm
