ICA celebrates 50 years at annual dinner
Almost 400 people attended the Insurance Council of Australia’s annual dinner at Sydney Town Hall on Thursday.
“It was a special evening as we marked 50 years of service by the ICA,” CEO Andrew Hall said afterwards.
“Insurance isn’t just the products or the premium, it is defined by people, united in purpose and committed to helping Australians recover, rebuild, reclaim and move forward.”
Former ICA chairman and IAG CEO Nick Hawkins gave a speech as current chairman and Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston missed the event through illness.
A panel of journalists comprising the AFR’s Tony Boyd and Jennifer Hewett and Sky News’ Laura Jayes and Ross Greenwood discussed some of the key insurance issues of the past five decades.
Guests included outgoing financial services minister Stephen Jones, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s Sarah Court and Alan Kirkland, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority executive board member Suzanne Smith and Australian Financial Complaints Authority CEO David Locke.
Mr Johnston spoke with insuranceNEWS.com.au today on the ICA's evolution and the industry's future.
