Errol crosses WA coastline as tropical low
Cyclone Errol, which reached category 4 strength before Easter, crossed the WA Kimberley coastline as a tropical low in a sparsely populated region.
The system reached the mainland just south of Kuri Bay, more than 200km from Derby and more than 260km from Kalumburu, which received 160.8mm of rain on April 19.
The Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation declared Cyclone Errol a covered event, with the claims period starting on April 16 and ending on April 20 at 4pm (AEST).
Errol is the 11th tropical cyclone in the Australian area of responsibility this season – the highest number since 2019.
The Australian cyclone season runs from November 1 to April 30.
