Allianz aims to lift spirits after disasters strike

Allianz has created a mental health support program for communities hit by natural disasters.

The insurer says Community Care will help build mental resilience and strengthen social connection as communities begin their recoveries.

“At Allianz, we believe that delivering true care to communities goes beyond just being there when disaster strikes – it’s about supporting communities in the long term,” chief GM for corporate affairs and governance Libby Davidson said.

“Mental health and social connection are fundamental to resilience, and ensuring communities have access to support and resources to aid both their physical and psychological recovery is essential.”

The program brings the insurer’s community partnerships together under one shared mission, and Outside the Locker Room – a charity that works with sporting clubs and businesses to promote mental wellbeing – is the program’s first partner.

The charity will host more than 100 mental health workshops across the country with support from the Allianz scheme.

Allianz says the workshops aim to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health while fostering a supportive community culture and promoting long-term wellbeing.

“This includes reaching communities impacted by natural disasters. The workshops started rolling out in April.”

Ms Davidson said: “Sport also has a unique power to build connection, particularly in communities hit by natural disasters, which is why we’re making sure our partnership reaches sporting clubs and local businesses in these communities to support their long-term recovery.”

More partnerships will be announced in coming months, Allianz says.
