AiBEC experts to offer free work for vulnerable consumers
The Association of Insurance Building and Engineering Consultants has launched a program for members to provide pro-bono services for vulnerable people.
It has partnered with the Financial Rights Legal Centre, which will refer eligible consumers to receive additional expert reports on damage causes for their insurance claims.
AiBEC CEO Tony Libke told insuranceNEWS.com.au members see the move as a way of giving back to the industry and demonstrating their commitment to acting as independent, qualified experts.
Participating members will prepare one free expert report per referral. The estimated time required to prepare each report is six to eight hours.
To support their work, members will receive a copy of the initial report prepared in relation to the claim.
Mr Libke says the AiBEC member’s report may support, supplement or differ from the original one relied on by the insurer.
