MLC Life Insurance says Jane McGovern, who is currently Group Executive Risk and Governance at NSW Government insurer icare, will join the business as Chief Risk Officer on September 19.

She will replace Edwina Star, a partner in PWC’s Risk & Regulation practice who joined the insurer in a temporary capacity following the departure of Darren Robinson in March.

“[Ms McGovern] is a seasoned and experienced CRO with a strong track record in driving innovation in risk management and compliance for some of Australia’s largest financial services organisations,” MLC Life Insurance CEO Rodney Cook says in a statement.

“Her understanding of the issues impacting our sector, as we continue to embed a strong risk culture in our business, will be important as we executive our business strategy.”

Before joining icare in September 2020 she held chief risk officer and other senior risk roles with global insurers Zurich and Allianz.
