Financial Advice NZ names interim CEO

Financial Advice New Zealand has appointed Tony Dench as its interim CEO as it searches for a successor for the outgoing Katrina Shanks.

Mr Dench has more than 20 years’ local industry experience, including five years as CEO of financial adviser network SHARE. He previously held roles at the Bank of New Zealand for over a decade, as well as several independent director positions across a number of industries.

Financial Advice NZ says Mr Dench’s extensive experience and industry networks will keep the firm in “good stead”.

“The board is delighted Tony brings his expertise to the association as we search for a permanent CEO,” Financial Advice NZ Board Chair Heather Roy said.

Mr Dench takes up the position from November 13.

Ms Shanks is leaving to become the new CEO of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).
