Financial Advice NZ appoints new chief

Financial Advice New Zealand has named Nick Hakes as CEO, replacing Katrina Shanks, who left for a similar position at the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Mr Hakes will start on February 26 and will relocate from Singapore, where he has been the director of market development for Asia at Kaplan Professional.

Before joining Kaplan, Mr Hakes was GM member services, partnerships and Campus AFA at the Financial Advice Association Australia in Sydney.

“The board is delighted to appoint Nick Hakes as the CEO ... and looks forward to working closely with him,” Financial Advice New Zealand Chair Heather Roy said.

“Nick understands the value of the collective voice of financial advisers and brings a wealth of international experience and expertise within the wealth management and financial advice industry, with an extensive background in building strategic partnerships, adviser-focused professional development frameworks, and membership growth for professional adviser bodies.”
