FAAA upbeat on advice reforms after Mulino meeting

Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino is keen to complete the Albanese government’s financial advice regulation overhaul, the peak body for advisers says after a meeting with the minister.

Dr Mulino “acknowledged the issues facing our profession and agrees the Delivering Better Financial Outcomes reforms are a priority”, Financial Advice Association Australia CEO Sarah Abood says.

“He is focused on releasing the remaining tranche of the reforms as quickly as possible.”

Ms Abood and FAAA chair David Sharpe met with Dr Mulino, who is also Financial Services Minister, in Melbourne this month.

“The FAAA has had a very positive meeting with [him] … We also spoke about the future health and growth of the profession, including the importance of reducing costs and red tape, and attracting and retaining more financial advisers to ensure affordable and accessible advice for all Australians,” Ms Abood said. “We are very encouraged by his willingness to listen and work with the profession.”
