UK insurer targeted by cyber attack

UK-based Sabre Insurance Group says it was subject to a cyber attack on November 16, though management do not believe any sensitive customer data was accessed or expect any material financial impact as a result of the incident.

IT security controls worked “promptly and effectively,” Sabre says, and the firm believes the attack was contained before the attacker was able to access any sensitive areas of Sabre’s systems.

“Due to the effective segregation of the company's systems, customers have continued to be able to make changes to existing policies, report claims and buy new policies securely,” Sabre said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange made on behalf of CEO Geoff Carter and CFO Adam Westwood.

An IT security partner assisted with the management, assessment and resolution of the attack.
