Marsh welcomes ‘solid’ Q2 performance

Marsh increased profit by 4.5% to $US1.67 billion ($2.38 billion) in the second quarter, which president and CEO John Doyle says is a solid result in a dynamic environment.

Revenue for the quarter was up 5% to $US7.4 billion ($10.6 billion).

The group’s revenue for the six months to June 30 gained 7% to $US15 billion ($21 billion), but net profit dipped 7% to $US2.4 billion ($3.4 billion).

Revenue from risk and insurance services grew 5% to $US9.9 billion ($14 billion) for the half, with reinsurance arm Guy Carpenter’s revenue up 1% to $US1.9 billion ($2.7 billion).

Consulting revenue increased 10% to $US5.2 billion ($7.4 billion), with Mercer up 9% to $US3.26 billion ($4.65 billion).

Asia-Pacific operations reported revenue of $US808 million ($1.15 billion), up nearly 9%.
