Lloyd’s names new commercial, Americas head

Lloyd’s has appointed Dawn Miller as Chief Commercial Officer and CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, based in New York.

Ms Miller, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, joined Lloyd’s in 2022 and is currently Commercial Director. Her expanded role takes effect from September 1.

Lloyd’s says Ms Miller will continue to lead the commercial directorate, retaining accountability for the market’s network, and will remain a member of the executive committee.

As CEO of Lloyd’s America, she will be responsible for fostering key relationships and driving growth in the region, and building greater alignment with Bermuda.

Meanwhile, Marc Lipman has been appointed President of Lloyd’s Americas, based in Canada. Mr Lipman joined Lloyd’s as the attorney in fact and president of Lloyd’s Canada in June 2020.

Current Regional Director and President of Lloyd’s Americas Hank Watkins is leaving at the end of this year after 15 years at the market.

Lloyd’s CEO John Neal says the new appointments and roles will strengthen the market’s position.

“The Americas represents over 60% of our market’s total premium and as we look to increase our presence, it is vital that we have the right people on the ground to deliver our ambitions,” he said. “I would like to thank Hank for his invaluable work over the past 15 years at Lloyd’s.”

Ms Miller says changes to the way Lloyd’s is structured in the Americas will allow the market to broaden its offering.

“We will be able to provide greater support to our large network of stakeholders and market participants based in the region and drive forward our global distribution strategy,” she said.

Ms Miller’s experience in the insurance industry has included oversight of underwriting, distribution, clients and strategy. She has held leadership positions at Chubb, Axa, AIG and WTW.
