Interim chair to take top seat at Swiss Re

Swiss Re plans to elect Jacques de Vaucleroy as Chairman for a one-year term at its annual general meeting next month.

Mr de Vaucleroy, currently Vice-Chairman, joined the board in 2017 and has more than 30 years’ insurance industry experience. He has been interim chair since Sergio Ermotti resigned in April last year to become CEO of Swiss bank UBS.

The insurer also plans to elect Geraldine Matchett to the board. Ms Matchett’s previous roles include co-CEO and CFO at nutrition, health and beauty company DSM-Firmenich and global CFO and member of the operations council at the SGS Group in Switzerland.

“With her extensive experience in leading roles at international companies, she will complement well the existing expertise of the board,” Mr de Vaucleroy said.

Swiss Re hit all its financial targets last year, delivering a strong result in a demanding environment, he says.

“Our business model is intact, enabling us to continue providing the sophisticated risk knowledge and peak risk capacity that our clients require to navigate existing and future perils,” he said.

The annual meeting will be held in Zurich on April 12.
