Europe's Storm Sabine cost insurers at least $2.8 billion

Insurers face claim losses of at least €1.5 billion ($2.8 billion) from Sabine, the damaging windstorm that struck Europe last month, according to Swiss catastrophe data firm Perils.

The estimate is based on claims data collected from affected insurers, with most losses reported in Germany.

Perils says the loss estimate is the biggest from a European windstorm since Friederike in January 2018.

Sabine, known also as Ciara and Elsa, affected areas in the British Isles and Europe from February 9-11.
