BIBA reaffirms code commitment

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association says it will give further consideration to developing a code of conduct.

It comes after a strategic review found members want the association to “play more of a role in driving up the level of professionalism”.

CEO Steve White last week announced a formal consultation on the issue.

“This could perhaps manifest itself in a code of practice, a code of conduct or a code of ethics,” he said. “It will be up to our members to tell us precisely what they would like us to do in this space, then it will be up to me, as CEO, to carry that out.”

An association spokesman says a date has yet to be set for the consultation.

“Steve’s announcement demonstrates that we continue to take forward the recommendations made in the strategic review,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
