Aon climate tool adds high-res flood risk projections
Quantification of flood and tropical cyclone threats has been added to Aon’s Climate Risk Monitor.
The global broker’s clients can now assess flood risk data at a resolution of 30 square metres or lower.
The monitor, launched last year, analyses drought, extreme rain and heat, freeze, tropical cyclone and wildfire threats under different climate change scenarios.
Other updates include a hazard vulnerability component based on occupancy types, a new user interface and direct client access.
Aon Climate Risk Advisory global head Liz Henderson says the enhanced features “provide unparalleled insights into the potential impacts of these events”.
Other new features include identification of a clients’ riskiest locations and geographical concentrations of risk; the most impactful perils on individual assets and portfolios; geographical images of changing risk; and risk assessments for regulatory and reporting purposes.
The changes follow a collaboration with flood expert Fathom in December that added high-resolution data to the Climate Risk Monitor, including on flash, river and coastal flooding, and rising sea levels.
“The tool is helping clients build more resilient supply chains by evaluating key supplier locations, demonstrate climate understanding and planning to stakeholders, and support regulatory due diligence and risk disclosures,” Aon says.
