Markel, Willis partner with racehorse medicine register
Clients of racehorse health group Equine MediRecord will be offered Markel equine mortality insurance under a new partnership.
Equine MediRecord (EMR) is part of Business Infusions – an equine veterinary software provider owned by Canada’s Inova Group – and is used by regulators in Australia, Ireland, Britain, the US, France, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia.
It simplifies compliance with anti-doping and animal welfare regulations via a digital medicines register.
Markel will initially distribute cover to EMR’s UK client base, which ranges from large stud farms to individual horse owners.
Willis’ specialist team in London will broker the offer.
“We are delighted to launch the first fully embedded bloodstock solution making insurance easy to access and quick to arrange,” Willis head of GB affinity Anthony Borgman said.
“Embedding insurance serves to offer customers improved and more convenient customer experiences, which in turn can enhance customer loyalty with the brands they trust.”
Technology provided by Kayna enables the distribution by Willis.
EMR customers see indicative quotes, pre-filled applications and policy generation. They can manage policy portfolios with access to certificates of insurance, fees paid, renewal dates and claims status. EMR has oversight via a comprehensive admin portal.
“Kayna infrastructure is doing its job leveraging unique EMR client data and enabling tailored insurance backed by the equine sector specialists at Markel and Willis,” Kayna CEO Paul Prendergast said.
Founded in 2021, Kayna was developed in collaboration with Aviva and is a Lloyd’s Lab alumnus.
