Insurtech NZ welcomes Federato
AI-powered underwriting platform Federato has become a member of Insurtech New Zealand.
Earlier this year, Federato opened its first office outside North America in Sydney and appointed Roland Slee as regional VP for Asia-Pacific and Japan.
“As we grow across Australia and New Zealand, joining InsurtechNZ is a step towards deeper local relationships and a more active role in the region’s insurance technology community,” the company said.
Federato says in 2024, more than 300 QBE underwriters and staff in the US moved to its RiskOps platform, which uses a “federated” graph to bring all data into a single view.
“By building an AI-native core system from the ground up, agentic workflows cover intake, underwriting, pricing, policy administration, billing and renewal as one connected system.”
The insurtech, founded in San Francisco in 2020, says Asia-Pacific lacks widespread use of AI solutions across the full policy life cycle.
It will initially focus on insurers and managing general agents writing commercial lines in Australia and New Zealand, and plans to expand to Singapore, Japan and South Korea.
Personal lines and embedded insurance are not part of the plan at present.
Earlier this month, Federato was named among research group FinTech Global’s 2026 Insurtech100 list of top innovators.
