WA brokers take NIBA awards, join hunt for national honours
The National Insurance Brokers Association named its WA award winners at a gala lunch in Perth today attended by almost 600 professionals.
Avoca Insurance Brokers MD Charles Elders is WA broker of the year, and Lockton Companies Australia associate Tom Wheeler has won the young broker prize.
They are now in the running for national awards, up against Gallagher branch manager Caleb Richards and Aon senior client manager Derek Turner – who won in NSW – and winners from Victoria/Tasmania, Queensland and SA/NT.
More regional gala lunches will be held next week at the Sofitel in Melbourne, The Star Brisbane and Adelaide Oval, where the final three winning pairs will be revealed.

Dustin Bartley, EM of workers’ compensation at broker award sponsor CGU, praised Mr Elders’ “commitment to go above and beyond for his clients”.
And Shane Butcher from young broker sponsor Vero says Mr Wheeler has displayed “remarkable commitment to his clients, colleagues and the broking profession”.
NIBA CEO Richard Klipin says the association “thanks all the finalists for showcasing how brokers are elevating professional standards in the way they engage with their clients and the community”.
