Scott Leney to leave Marsh later this year

Marsh Head of Risk Management for Asia and Pacific Scott Leney will leave later in the year after 37 years with the business, the broker said today.

Mr Leney is starting a new role in November at Everest Insurance as Head of Asia Pacific for its International Division.

“Scott is a formidable industry figure who is highly regarded by the business community, his Marsh colleagues and the community alike,” a spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“Marsh feels privileged that he gave so much of his career to the business. Scott is admired for his leadership and part of his great legacy in Marsh is the expertise and client-centric values he has helped build in Marsh colleagues, leaving behind an outstanding team.”

Everest Insurance says Mr Leney’s appointment takes effect on November 6 and he will be based in Sydney, reporting to Everest Insurance International co-heads Adam Clifford and Jason Keen.

He will oversee the insurance division’s business strategy and growing portfolios both in Asia and the Pacific led by Head of Asia Ben Carey and Head of Pacific Christian Colombera. Everest Insurance is the insurance division of Everest Re Group, a US-headquartered general and specialty reinsurance underwriter.

“Scott’s deep industry and regional expertise, coupled with his strong leadership uniquely positions Everest to meet our clients’ growing needs across Asia Pacific,” Mr Clifford said.

“Guided by Scott, our team of highly accomplished leaders and dedicated resources across the market will continue to expand on our best-in-class capabilities and product offerings to solve our clients’ most complex challenges.”

Mr Leney has held many leadership roles at Marsh. He has served as Marsh Australia CEO, where he led the expanded Australian business during the integration of JLT Australia.

He also served as Marsh Pacific CEO and was a member of the Pacific Executive Committee and the International Executive Committee.

Mr Leney is currently Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) Deputy President and board member.
