Insurers to meet storm-hit SA customers
Insurers will set up a consultation hub in Port Pirie to help SA policyholders affected by severe storms that hit the area in November.
The sessions, hosted by the Insurance Council of Australia, will allow customers to meet with insurer representatives to discuss or lodge claims.
“The storm that impacted the Port Pirie region late last year brought strong winds and heavy rainfall, leaving widespread damage,” ICA director of mitigation and extreme weather response Liam Walter said. “ICA recognises the toll extreme weather takes on small communities, and insurers remain committed to supporting affected residents through the recovery process.”
The hub will be open on April 29 and 30 at the Royal Port Pirie Yacht Club from 9am to 5pm.
The wild weather in November included hailstorms and wind gusts of up to 119km/h, toppling trees and leaving thousands of properties without power.
