Industry moves: Blue Zebra completes double swoop

Underwriting agency Blue Zebra has raided QBE and Marsh to appoint two regional managers as it continues to grow.

Former QBE regional manager Victoria/Tasmania James McCauley will start with Blue Zebra in late February.

And former Marsh Advantage Insurance executive director David Cook has already joined the agency.

Both have the regional manager title and are based in Melbourne.

MD Colin Fagen told insuranceNEWS.com.au Blue Zebra now employs 14 staff.

“We are growing well,” he said.

Last month the company, which is underwritten by Zurich and aims to bring personal lines back to brokers, introduced its new landlord offering, having gone live with home and motor earlier this year.

Its SME offering will roll out next year “alongside various other initiatives”.

In other industry moves, Insurance Advisernet New Zealand has appointed Travis Atkinson as GM Operations.

Mr Atkinson was previously EGM at NZI, and will report to Director and CEO David Crawford.

“This role has been created to reflect the growth of our New Zealand business coupled with the opportunities for us to further expand our offering to our brokers and in turn their clients,” the company said.

Meanwhile, AUB Group has announced the appointment of David Franks and Allan Luu as Company Secretaries, following the departure of Justin Coss and Howard Edelman.

And the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) has today re-elected three directors for two-year terms on the board.

Steadfast Underwriting Agencies CEO Simon Lightbody, Millennium MD Heath Amber, and Axis National Development Manager Emily Walker were re-elected at UAC’s AGM in Sydney.

An additional vacant board role was filled by Trent Brown, Director of Allstate Underwriting.

At a board meeting following the AGM, Lyndon Turner was re-elected as chair, and Kurt Nilsen as deputy chair. Peter Fryer was elected treasurer, replacing Linda King, who did not stand for re-election. Heath Amber was elected as Company Secretary and Public Officer.
