IAG starts hunt for new NZ CEO
IAG’s Amanda Whiting will leave her role as New Zealand CEO and return to Australia for “family reasons”.
The insurer today confirmed a recruitment process is under way to find her replacement.
“Amanda will continue to lead the New Zealand business until a successor is appointed, ensuring a smooth transition for IAG’s people, customers and partners,” a spokesperson said.
insuranceNEWS.com.au understands Ms Whiting will probably remain with IAG, but a new role has not been confirmed.
A note from Ms Whiting to staff, seen by insuranceNEWS.com.au, says it is “business as usual” for now.
“You may have seen [IAG CEO] Nick Hawkins’ email announcing that I have decided to return to Sydney for family reasons and, ultimately, leave my role as CEO of IAG in New Zealand,” she writes.
“I would like to acknowledge Nick, who has been supportive of my decision and has agreed that I can move back to Sydney and continue to do my job running the NZ business until someone else is appointed.
“I love this business and I’m proud of all we’ve achieved since I joined in July 2021.”
Ms Whiting has spent almost 18 years with IAG. Before the NZ role she held senior positions including EGM consumer distribution and EGM SME direct.
She is currently president of the Insurance Council of New Zealand.
