HDI Global names Tarantino next Singapore MD, appoints liability leader

HDI Global SE says Regional Underwriting Manager Liability and Cyber, Asia Pacific Alex Tarantino will become Singapore MD from mid-year, following the retirement of Graham Silton.

Mr Tarantino, who has more than 20 years’ underwriting experience across the UK, Canada and Australia, will continue in his current Sydney-based role until he moves to Singapore and takes up the new position from July 1.

“Since joining HDI in 2019, Alex has overseen our liability expansion nationally across Australia, while building a talented team to provide market leading solutions,” HDI Global Asia Pacific Head and HDI Global Australia MD Stefan Feldmann said today.

“In addition, he has already been providing oversight to the Asia Pacific region where he will continue to focus on strengthening the brand across all lines.”

Andrew Cochrane, currently Liability Underwriting Manager, Northern Region, becomes Underwriting Manager Liability Australasia in the Sydney office from this month.

Mr Cochrane’s career began in London in 2002 as an international liability broker focused on Australia, Canada, Africa and Latin America business. He moved to Australia in 2015 and in 2019 joined HDI Global where he has been key along with Mr Tarantino in growing the liability book.

Mr Silton is retiring following four decades in the insurance industry. He joined HDI Global SE Australia in 2015, growing the local property portfolio ahead of his appointment as Singapore MD in 2017.

“Graham is an outstanding leader, who has made a significant contribution to our business first here in Australia and over the last seven years as a leader in Singapore expanding our HDI reach in the growth regions of the ASEAN,” Mr Feldmann said.

“Graham’s dedication to our staff, brokers, customers and ensuring financial success for HDI has set a high standard for those who will follow in his footsteps.”
