Peter Chalkias has been appointed Australian country head and CFO at global (re)insurer Everest Group.

The Sydney-based executive joined Everest Australia as CFO in 2023 after almost 13 years at Chubb, where he finished as head of external reporting.

He also spent 12 years at Combined Insurance.

Mr Chalkias brings a “wealth of insurance industry experience to his new position”, the reinsurer says.

“His professional background includes deep expertise in financial risk, risk management, accounting, financial planning and business process improvement.”

In November, Bermuda-based Everest sold its retail policy renewal rights to AIG.

A spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au Christian Colombera will manage the retail policy run-off strategy as regional co-ordinator for Asia-Pacific.

He has been at Everest a decade, most recently as head of the Pacific region and MD of Australia.
